WHY VISIT AUSTRALIA

Australia is one of the world's most rural areas, but it's also one of the most popular places to visit, particularly among travelers and budget travelers.

Due to its distance from the United States, few Americans visit Australia. The flights are long and expensive, and for many travelers, wasting a few days flying makes no sense when they only have a few weeks to travel.

Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef, one of the world's most famous reef systems, is known for its abundance of marine life and world-class diving opportunities. It has turtles, sharks, colorful coral, and beautiful fish. It was everything people said it would be.

This reef can be dived in a single day or over several days. While everyone moves away from Cairns, departing from Port Douglas will get you to less crowded dive sites.

Sydney

Sydney is famous for its famous opera house and harbor, but it also has an incredible bridge, great parks, delicious food, lots of free things to do, and incredible surfing.

Whether you go to Manly Beach or Bondi, Sydney is a great place to relax in the sun and enjoy the water. Darling Harbor has a number of excellent restaurants and entertainment venues, and the Chinese Garden is particularly relaxing. Nothing beats a night out on the town with the colorful locals at King's Cross.

Uluru

You wouldn't expect a huge round rock covering eight kilometers of land to be breathtaking, but it is. The wind-blown cuts in the rock look very similar a wave of sand climbing over the desert. During sunrise and sunset, the iron in the rock produces amazing shades of red and orange.

Barbecue

The barbecue is one of the many things that Australians succeed at. The Australian barbecue is a serious tradition, with at least three barbecue pits in most parks and public areas. In fact, I'm not sure what Australia would be like without barbecues. Nothing beats a beautiful warm night, a few good beers, and some grilled kangaroo to make you fall in love with this place. Barbecuing is also a cost-effective option!

The Wine

Margaret River near Perth, the Barossa Valley near Adelaide, and the Hunter Valley near Sydney are all excellent wine regions in Australia. While in Australia, try some good wine, particularly shiraz and pinot noir. You can take day trips to any of the wine regions from nearby major cities, or simply go to the wine store and get drunk in the park while grilling.

Western Australia

It's breathtaking, with large sections of countryside and white sand beaches that stretch for miles without a soul in glimpse. Not many people visit Western Australia. Otherwise, it could become overcrowded and overbuilt like the East Coast.

Karijini National Park performs better Kakadu and Litchfield, and Coral Bay and the Ningaloo Reef outperform Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef.

Perth

Although Sydney and Melbourne receive the most attention, Perth can compete with these two heavyweights. There are beautiful beaches, one of the world's largest city parks, surfing, and nearby Fremantle, which serves Australia's best beer.

Perth is a young city with the energy of a huge city. Don't pass it up. Don't forget about the famous Cottesloe Hotel's Sunday drinking sessions.

Rainforests

If you want to settle down one day, and it'll be somewhere dreamy and tropical. Perhaps Queensland will be that location. Here you'll find one of the world's oldest continuous tropical rainforests. There are great hiking trails, plenty of wildlife and birds, and some really nice rivers and swimming holes to cool off in. If you really want to get away from it all, head far north to Cape Tribulation, where you'll be alone with the jungle and the ocean.

Surfing

Australia may not have created surfing, but given how culturally entrenched it is in Australian culture, it might as well have. The East Coast has the best surfing, and there are a million places to catch a good wave. You can go to Sydney and places like Bondi Beach, but the best surfing I've found is up in Queensland. Noosa, in my opinion, is one of the best places to surf because it has waves for both professionals and beginners.

Lovely beaches

With over 50,000 kilometers of coastline, this country could not exist without beautiful beaches. The beaches on Australia's East Coast are far busier than the unpopulated beaches on the country's west coast. But with so many options, you'll always be able to find a quiet spot to unwind.
